Delorean Bijon Brandon, 41, was charged Monday with killing Christina Downer, 38, the sister of “SNL” writer Jimmy Fowlie. Prosecutors allege Brandon killed Downer around Sept. 19, 2025, and that his girlfriend, Kaylee Nicole Markowski, 34, later helped dispose of her body.
The District Attorney, Nathan Hochman, says Brandon is charged with one count of murder and two felony counts of injuring a spouse in connection with separate alleged incidents involving his wife in 2022. Markowski was charged with one felony count of accessory after the fact.
Los Angeles has requested the full indictment from the D.A.’s office.
“More than a year has passed since Christina Downer vanished and her family and friends have dealt with uncertainty amid the profound loss of someone they loved so much,” Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said. “Although Ms. Downer has not been located, we are charging two individuals today who are accused of playing a role in her death and disappearance and we will hold them accountable for their actions.”
Downer was reported missing on Dec. 18, 2025, after her ex-husband requested a welfare check. Brandon initially told police she had moved out months earlier, leaving behind her belongings, car and dog. The investigation became even more chilling when Downer’s cellphone washed ashore on Santa Monica Beach. This prompted the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division to take over the case.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Fowlie had previously expressed concerns that someone accessed his sister’s phone and social media accounts to make it appear she had voluntarily disappeared. Investigators also searched a property in Joshua Tree in October as part of the investigation.
Downer’s disappearance gained attention after her brother, Fowlie, publicly asked for help finding her. Her family had been searching for answers for months. In an emotional Instagram post, Fowlie said his family had been told Christina was dead and that police were investigating her disappearance as a homicide. He also claimed someone had accessed her phone and social media accounts, using them to ask for money and make it appear she had simply gone “off the grid.” Fowlie said he believed someone was trying to cover up what happened to his sister and urged anyone with information to come forward.
“Our prayers for her to be found safely have transformed into prayers for the truth to be revealed and for those responsible to be held accountable,” he wrote.
Brandon and Markowski were arrested Oct. 29. Their arraignments have been postponed until Dec. 29, according to NBC Los Angeles.
Brandon faces a potential life sentence if convicted, while Markowski faces up to three years in county jail.
Both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
